About Lisa Pope

Lisa Pope I attempt to capture light and color that breathe life into the subjects I paint. I wish to carry the viewer on this journey with me, to find interest in the ordinary.

I have always loved art! However, I chose to pursue a degree in education and pursued a career as a school counselor, got married and started a family; which left little time for art. I grew to miss it. During the past five years, I have immersed myself in painting every chance I get and reading all I can about art. I reconnected to my original love for art. I love how it feels to start with a fresh piece of paper. Its like Im seeing something for the first time, when I study it to paint it. I apply paint and cant wait to see what happens. Pablo Picasso was quoted as saying, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." This is what I am attempting to do return to the art I love and see the world with fresh new eyes. ...The world is anew. Its full of vibrant colors, compositions, and perspectives. It feels like a rebirth. I paint with acrylics, watercolors and soft pastels. I will also consider commissioned work on request.

If you prefer, I can take the photos of your subject of interest, such as a loved one, family pet or treasured objects arranged into a still life. I involve you during the entire process. I will sketch preliminary ideas. If this meets your approval, I require a 50% deposit to cover materials and time involved. The balance is due after you view the final painting and it meets your approval.

My prices are based on size and difficulty level of the subject(s). A painting 12x16 and smaller is $2 per square inch. Larger than 12x16 is $1.50 per square inch. Here are standard size/price guidelines. I will certainly do custom sizes as well.
